Heritage Museum

The Wymondham Heritage Museum is located in Bridewell, telling the story of the local area, as well as the famous brushmaking industry. This was one of the most important industries for the town, and displays tell the story of brushmaking from 1890 to 1980, and include information on Wymondham schools, Victorian life and activities for children.

Wymondham Abbey

The Wymondham Abbey was founded in 1107 by the chief butler of King Henry I, William D'Albini, as a Priory. It became an Abbey in 1448, though was suppressed during the right of King Henry VIII. It is now the Parish Church of Wymondham.

Wymondham Abbey is a perfect example of an historic Church, and can be seen for miles around from the countryside. It has a number of distinguishable features, including twelfth-century nave arcades, and an impressive alter-screen. There is also a smaller daughter church on the southern side of the parish, converted from a nineteenth century school.

Wymondham Music Festival

The Wymondham Music Festival first started in 1996, with a small number of concerts, though quickly expanded into a festival. There are many musical events taking place throughout the summer months, and the festival itself runs from the last week of June to the first week of July. The events are designed to promote the performance and the appreciation of music, and offer education in music to local residents.

Wymondham Railway

The Mid-Norfolk Railway Preservation Trust was started in 1995, with the aim of buying the line between Norfolk Market towns Dereham and Wymondham. The group now owns 28km worth of track throughout the countryside, and the line currently operates between Dereham and Wymondham.

The historic railway station was built in 1854 on the Norwich to Ely line. The station has also been restored, housing a restaurant and tearooms, railway museum and piano showroom.
